Overview

What is a Pop-up? Pop-ups are a new web browser window that is opened by a website. Certain types of downloaded content such as advertisements, images, music, and forms can cause pop-ups. Many websites use pop-ups to display information without disrupting the page currently open. For example, if you were to fill in a form on a web page and needed extra guidance, a pop-up might provide needed information without causing loss of anything already entered.

Microsoft Edge, Firefox and Safari browsers differ in their behavior when clicking to access Supersite assignments and linking to a new pop-up window. Some browsers will bring the information to the front of the main window (page), while other browsers may reload the content or open a new tab. Sometimes the pop-up windows containing the assignment content will not open at all.

Pop-up Blocker Settings. VHL Supersites will operate more efficiently if your Internet browser has certain preferences set. For all supported browsers, “Pop-ups” from the Supersite must be allowed in order to view all information on the site.
